The first of many

Published by beachadventures at 4:11 am under Uncategorized Edit This

I was out wandering the beaches on my favourite island with it’s long white sandy shores, coral reefs and colorful crabs that scamper around my bare feet when I noticed a beautiful sail boat moored in an isolated marina. The dockage couldn’t have been more than around 50 feet or so but the sleek white vessel more than filled the space around it. It was quite a distance away and it reminded me of the journey that I’d taken down from Florida on the sport fishing boat with it’s well equipt crew of burly sailors who promised to look after me and make sure that I was dropped off at the right sort of island where I could bathe in shallow waters and watch the birds and fish of the caribbean all day if that was what my heart desired. The Albermarle express fisherman (the make of the boat) had a massive cockpit on the deck with an ice/bait cooler, tackle storage and rigging station but my favourite job was to make sure that the crew all had plenty of cold beer. The thought sent a shiver down my spine as I remembered having to bend into the bottom of the ice cooler to get the coldest beers from the lower shelves. I had only worn my bikini, sarong and sandals when I set out that morning several months before but even when the boat was at full speed racing through the deep Atlantic waters and the warm wind rushing though my hair I’d known I was destined for the island paradise that had now become my home. I missed the humour and the roughness of the fishermen that had brought me this far. They had been skilled at their hobby and fun in the evenings. Their journey was taking them all around the family islands and a little female company in next to no clothing was a welcome break in their otherwise macho trip.

    Hello there,

We had a trip out on the very same sort of sail boat last year just off the south of Florida. We were out fishing for a few days with friends and they suggested that we should have a look at some of the beaches that were on the islands. They go to Nassau every year for their family vacation. I think Nassua might be a bit too noisy for us as we’re more the fishing and lying on the beach type of couple so maybe we should head further south. Your islands sounds peaceful and very beautiful.

We had a trip out on that kind of boat when we stayed in Florida last year. The captain was a huge man with a perfect curly beard and no edge to him at all. He guided us through the corals and took us to some of the finest fishing we’d ever had.

This sounds like the start to a sleazy novel…and yes, I’ve read a couple!

I’ve been on one of those fishing boats. I had a big catch and we shared some beers too. Sounds like a lot of fun, next time though I think I’d be heading southwards for that yacht you saw in the marina. I get the feeling you’d be welcome as a fresh face on board.

What fun! We had a beach party with some friend in Long Island in the Bahamas and the rum punch went down a treat as we watched the sunset it was paradise!
